Puratos is an international group with a full range of innovative products and application expertise in the bakery, patisserie, and chocolate sectors. Products and services are available in more than 100 countries around the world and, in many cases, actually produced there by subsidiaries. Clients are artisans, retailers, and food service providers.
Fenwick Architects was selected to design the fit-out for their USA national admini s t rat ive headquarters and innovation center for the latest in product research, development, and customer awareness.
The new Puratos Innovation Center.
Puratos purchased an existing 56,000-square-foot warehouse structure and allocated approximately 43,000 square feet of it for the headquarters and innovation center.
The structure is steel post and beam with a metal deck roof; concrete block nonbearing walls enclose the perimeter. This building location#s is adjacent to their Pennsauken manufacturing facility, allowing benefits of a walkable campus.
The 43,000-square-foot headquarters was divided between the administrative office functions of approximately 16,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art innovation center of approximately 23,000 square feet, and the remaining space for common areas, including reception and the cafeteria. The office area includes human resources, finance, sales, marketing, and the executive offices for local and U.S. operations.
The open cafeteria.
The innovation center is for product enhancement and new product development. The area is allocated to demonstration spaces and research & development. Display areas utilize walls of glass to immediately link the busy bakers and product displays to visitors arriving at the reception area.
There is a carefully screened small loading area adjacent to the main entry. The exterior of the warehouse was enhanced with a complement of paint in corporate colors, storefront, aluminum panels, and an eye-catching canopy/sign element over the main entrance.
The new building was designed to help Puratos customers develop better ideas based on consumer expectations, support them in development of their products, and help them solve technical challenges. Puratos is dedicated to anticipating and responding to consumer changes and evolving expectations through innovation.
