Having grown up on Sicilian food, Gianni and Lisa Licari decided to take a chance on Gianni#s mother’s secret recipes and open their own Sicilian restaurant. With both of their grandparents from the same small town in Sicily, Italian food was literally in their blood. They left their corporate careers and opened Licari’s Sicilian Pizza Kitchen at Knapp#s Corner in 2012.
By 2016, the restaurant had won the prestigious MLive’s 2016 Michigan’s Best Pizza Award. By the fall of 2017, Gianni and Lisa felt it was time to open a second location that provided more room for special events at the corner of 36th Avenue and Baldwin Street in Hudsonville.
Licari’s modern, industrial charm is reminiscent of an old Sicilian world, known for its fresh,
bittersweet and Mediterranean flavors.

Being the larger location of the two, the new restaurant features an outdoor patio, polished concrete floors, a combination of rustic and contemporary light fixtures, and wood accents that complement the light-colored walls and tiled backsplashes.
Two solid maple, custom-built accents catch your eye as soon as you enter the door of the restaurant: a rolling barn-style door that separates a private dining area from the rest of the dining room, and a smooth-as-glass, high-gloss epoxy-resin-finished bar top.
The foundation is cast-in-place, slab-on-grade, the exterior walls are EIFS over brick, and interior walls are wood frame. Floors are finished concrete and the roof is a membrane system.
Licari’s of Hudsonville is airy and has an easy-going atmosphere, and the spin on the Sicilian food is as delicious as the atmosphere. The space’s modern, industrial charm is reminiscent of an old Sicilian world, known for its fresh, bittersweet and Mediterranean flavors.
