Graphisoft Expands AI and Open Collaboration Strategy for the AEC Industry

by Design Cost Data

At the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design in San Diego, Graphisoft, part of the Nemetschek Group, introduced the next phase of its Design Intelligence Strategy and previewed new technologies designed to improve collaboration, streamline workflows, and accelerate AI adoption across the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

The announcement builds on Nemetschek Group’s vision of creating a unified, cloud-native platform that supports projects from early feasibility and conceptual design through detailed BIM development and lifecycle collaboration. Graphisoft will play a key role in delivering intuitive, data-driven tools that help architects and engineers make better decisions throughout the design process.

A major focus of the initiative is improving collaboration among project stakeholders. Industry research indicates that more than 92% of construction projects experience significant delays or budget overruns, resulting in an estimated $2.1 trillion in annual global losses. To address these challenges, Graphisoft announced plans for an open collaboration environment that will connect teams working across Graphisoft products and the broader Nemetschek ecosystem. The platform is intended to keep models, documents, issues, and decisions synchronized while supporting widely used industry formats, including IFC, BCF, PDF, DWG, and RVT. Early access is expected in 2026.

Graphisoft also previewed a next-generation, web-based Design Intelligence platform that combines artificial intelligence with integrated performance simulations. The system will allow users to rapidly evaluate and optimize hundreds of massing, layout, and design scenarios based on project goals, site constraints, and performance requirements. Because the platform operates in a browser-based environment, project stakeholders can participate in the decision-making process without requiring BIM expertise. Early access is scheduled for October.

In addition, Graphisoft introduced the upcoming Archicad-Autodesk Forma Connection. Available in a future Archicad update, the built-in integration will allow users to securely exchange models, documents, and project information directly with Autodesk Forma Data Management. The connection is designed to reduce workflow friction, improve multidisciplinary collaboration, and enable firms to work seamlessly across platforms while remaining in their preferred design environment.

Looking ahead, Graphisoft plans to continue expanding its AI portfolio, including AI Assistant, AI Visualizer, and additional services built on a common platform. These capabilities will be integrated with Graphisoft’s broader ecosystem of solutions, including Archicad, BIMx, BIMcloud, MEP Designer, and DDScad, creating more connected and data-driven workflows for the AEC industry.
